This week we announced our exciting, virtual railfan festival taking place across 10th & 11th April between 12pm and 6pm EST which you can register for right here on the website. We Are Railfans has seen masses of amazing railfan content from American railroads in the last 12 months and with two big names joining Railfan Fest, we're looking forward to sharing more with our audience on that side of the Atlantic.
Amtrak are a household name across the United States and join the event in preparation for their 50th Anniversary later in the year. In previous months We Are Railfans has detailed some of the brand's services across the last half-century through Gary Dolzall's insightful pieces and we also marked 20 years of the Acela service at the end of 2020. During the event, Amtrak will join us live to discuss how they have connected America and transformed transportation by modernizing train travel, and how they plan to build for the future. A true institution of the American railroads, Amtrak will be talking about their 50th Anniversary plans in detail alongside a Q&A opportunity.

NJ Transit is the largest statewide public transit system in the United States, ferrying millions of passengers on bus, light rail and commuter rail across New Jersey as well as parts of New York State and Pennsylvania. Being at the heart of some of America's busiest railroad operations, it is no surprise that some of NJT's stations have been chosen for locations in major feature films and representatives will be discussing some of those with us, along with their plans for the future, including coping with the pandemic's impact on commuter services.

British designer Ian Logan will be chatting to us to discuss their latest book release on 'Railroad Graphics and the American Dream': Logomotive. The stunningly-illustrated title, published by Sheldrake Press, details the history of America's pioneer railroads and looks at dazzling array of logos, liveries and promotional artwork that was used during the mid-20th century. Ian traveled across the United States by rail in the 1970s taking some amazing photographs which are also included in the book. His enthusiasm for American railroads is one echoed by many railfans both in the States and the UK.

Railroad Modeler and CSX Engineer DJsTrains was featured in one of our own We Are Railfans articles in 2020 and returns for Railfan Fest with a fantastic video guiding railfans across the railroading landscapes so often recreated in miniature. His expert drone footage, coupled with knowledge from his time on the railroad makes for an excellent half-hour piece, topped off with a short Q&A at the end.
